The Hatcher Group, a Tampa General Agency of New England Financial, is holding an open house today from 4 to 8 p.m. at 2701 North Rocky Point Drive, Suite 1160, in Tampa. The Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6:30 p.m., celebrating the opening of the new location. The Hatcher Group provides insurance and investment products such as life and disability insurance, annuities and mutual funds, long-term care insurance and retirement planning, employee and executive benefits and business pension plans. The Tampa office of Cushman & Wakefield of Florida has announced that the Gateway Crossings shopping center was purchased for $8.35-million by F.W. Investments. The seller was Principal Life Insurance Company.

The Tampa division of Lennar Homes has selected John Heagney Public Relations to develop and coordinate publicity and media-relations programs for its communities in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. Founded in 1954 and based in Miami, Lennar is a home-building company with operations in 13 states.

Berkeley Preparatory School announces that Karen Humphrey has joined the staff as director of communications. In this position, Humphrey will oversee the production of all school-related publications and will direct all schoolwide public relations, marketing efforts and media relations. Before joining Berkeley, she held the position of public relations and marketing consultant at the University of Akron, Ohio.

Blanchard is responsible for managing the business of the company's domestic and export ingredients sales division and serves on the company strategic focus group and sales leadership team. Colonial Bank announces the election of John D. Adams Sr. to chairman of the board for the regional bank. Adams was a member of the original board that formed Fort Brooke Savings and Loan Association in 1980. Fort Brooke was acquired by Colonial BancGroup in 1997.

Ford & Harrison, LLP, a labor and employment law firm, announces that Tracey Jaensch has become a shareholder in the firm. Jaensch practices management-side labor relations and employment law with an emphasis on employment litigation. She joined the Tampa office of Alley and Alley in 1996, which subsequently merged with Ford & Harrison.
