Breesmen on course to 3rd Dogwood titleBy BRANT JAMES © St. Petersburg Times, published April 5, 2001 BROOKSVILLE -- With one week remaining until the tee-off of the 30th Dogwood Invitational at Brooksville Golf & Country Club, Barb Breesmen is preparing to defend her title. Breesmen, a two-time Dogwood champ from Brooksville, set a tournament record last year in winning the event by 17 strokes over Wanda Smith. "She's been out there practicing a lot, so it looks like she's getting ready to go," BGCC head professional Paul Attard said of Breesmen. Attard said he anticipated about 100 entrants. HOLE-IN-ONE: Tom Rackrowski of Spring Hill used a 7-iron to ace the 143-yard seventh hole at Sherman Hills on March 22. LUNG ASSOCIATION: A tournament to benefit the American Lung Association will be played at World Woods at 1 p.m. June 4. The cost to enter is $65 per person and includes greens fees, cart, range balls, prizes and dinner. There will be awards, prize drawings, a silent auction and dinner at Southern Woods after the tournament. AUTISM SOCIETY: The sixth annual Autism Society of Florida Golf Classic will is scheduled for 1 p.m. May 5 at GlenLakes. A $75 entry fee includes dinner. The guest speaker will be Gator assistant football coach Jimmy Ray Stephens. Advance tickets for the 6 p.m. gathering are $15 for members, $20 for non-members and $8 for children 10 and younger.
