Community considered for switch to sewersHOLIDAY -- Pasco County plans to examine the cost of extending public sewers to more than 100 residents of the Baillie's Bluff area. The coastal community in southwest Pasco still uses septic systems, but at the request of one resident, Commissioner Peter Altman has suggested the county install sewers. To pay for the project, county officials said they could assess each homeowner about $5,000. Altman said the county should pick up the tab, claiming septic systems threaten the Gulf of Mexico with contamination from intestinal bacteria. Before it would agree to the project, Pasco plans to hold public hearings with Baillie's Bluff residents.
