Deputies investigate report of battery at jail

NEW PORT RICHEY -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies are investigating a battery involving several inmates at the county jail in New Port Richey.

According to a deputy's report, a 20-year-old male inmate was held down on a bed and tied up with sheets by four other inmates at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

At least one of the four inmates fondled the 20-year-old, the report said. The victim fought the four men and squirmed away. He yelled through the cell bars and alerted guards, the report said.

The 20-year-old told corrections deputies that his four attackers have harassed him for the past few weeks and have made suggestive sexual comments to him.

Authorities aren't releasing the victim's name, or the names of his attackers because no charges have been filed.
