Amen corner

By Times staff writer

WHO CRUISED: Tournament leader Chris DiMarco had success through Amen Corner, playing the three holes in par-birdie-birdie. Paul Azinger went par-birdie-birdie and Steve Stricker went par-par-eagle.

WHO STUMBLED: Two-time Masters champion Nick Faldo sandwiched pars around triple bogey at the 12th. U.S. Amateur champion Jeff Quinney followed par at No. 11 with double bogey and bogey, and Dudley Hart went bogey-par-double bogey.

ROLLER-COASTER RIDE: There was not too much joy at Amen Corner for Arnold Palmer, despite birdie 2 at the 12th. That was preceded by double-bogey 6 and followed by quadruple-bogey 9.
