Forest Hills Wesleyan Church

LOCATION: 914 W 131st Ave., Tampa (813) 935-4457

SERVICES AND PROGRAMS: Sunday school and children's program 10 a.m. and worship 11 a.m.; Wednesday 7 p.m. prayer and Bible studies.

LEADERSHIP: The Rev. John E. Chambers has been pastor for about four years. He received his degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been married to Carolyn for 38 years and they have four sons: John Michael, Robert John, John Douglas, and John Marc. Do you see a theme in these names?

HISTORY: The church was built in 1950 as the Pilgrim Holiness Church and became the Wesleyan Church in 1968 after merging with the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

RECENT SERMON TOPIC OR THEME: Psalm 51:10: "Create in me a pure heart."

OUTREACH TO THE COMMUNITY: The church supports the Pregnancy Center and the missions of the Wesleyan Church.

NOTABLE: Chambers said that the congregation is a close and loving assembly -- with only about 12 active members, do they have an alternative?
