CLEARWATER -- Gulf Coast Community Care needs volunteers for two of its programs. Linking Lifetimes matches adults 30 and older with a child from a single-parent, low-income home. The Adopt-A-Grandchild program needs adults 55 and older to volunteer at least two to four hours a week for an infant or up to 16 years old. No experience necessary for either program. Pilates sessions available at wellness centers

CLEARWATER -- The Wellness Centers of Morton Plant Mease Health Care offer the Pilates' method of body conditioning. Classes are offered Mondays and Fridays at the Clearwater Wellness Center, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Palm Harbor Wellness Center.

Joseph Pilates developed the program, a strengthening and stretching class based on a few repeated control and resistance movements, about 70 years ago. Beginner-level classes are gentle, non-cardiovascular exercises that concentrate on mind-body awareness. Free to Wellness Center members; $5 per class for non-members. Call (888) 676-8484.

Series of free law classes continues at campus

CLEARWATER -- You don't have to be a lawyer to learn about the law. The People's Law School, a series of free sessions sponsored by the Clearwater Bar Association, has begun.

All classes, taught by local judges and/or lawyers, will be from 7 to 9 p.m. in the teaching auditorium of St. Petersburg Junior College, at 2465 Drew St. in Clearwater.

People can attend as few or as many sessions as they wish. There is no homework. Seating is limited, but registration not necessary. For information, call 461-4869.

Pediatric clinic is open Wednesday mornings

CLEARWATER -- Every Wednesday, between 9 a.m. and noon, the Clearwater Free Clinic offers a special pediatric clinic for children not covered by private health insurance or government-assisted programs. The clinic's family practice nurse practitioner and a pediatrician are available at those times to see patients between the ages of 2 and 18. The nurse practitioner's services are made possible by a grant from the Eckerd Family Foundation. For a a pediatric appointment, call the Clearwater Free Clinic at 447-3041.

Senior agency looking for volunteer drivers

Can you drive a van? Or visit someone who needs companionship? Neighborly Senior Services, which is based in Clearwater but serves Pinellas County, is looking for volunteers to drive seniors to and from doctor appointments. NSS also needs volunteers to go into seniors' homes to socialize, read the newspaper or books to them, sort mail and possibly go grocery shopping for them. For early risers, a chance to exercise

LARGO -- Start your day with exercise in a program sponsored by the Largo Recreation and Parks Department at the Southwest Recreation Complex, 13120 Vonn Road, Largo. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30-7:30 a.m., instructor Janis Scot will lead participants through a vigorous program of stretching, toning and strengthening exercises.

Volunteers sought for new hospice thrift shop

TARPON SPRINGS -- Volunteers are needed for Hospice of the Florida Suncoast's new thrift shop at 780 S Pinellas Ave. in Tarpon Springs. The shop needs cashiers, sorters, pricers, display designers and office support. Proceeds from the store will go to hospice's programs as do those of the other thrift shops in Clearwater and Pinellas Park.
