Mother charged with spitting in girl's face
NEW PORT RICHEY -- Elsa Mars thought her daughter had disrespected her.
So she spit on the girl, police said.
Mars, 41, of 5224 Marine Parkway was arrested Friday and charged with child abuse, New Port Richey police said.
The victim, whose age and name were not released, told police that her mother slapped her twice and spit on her during an argument about 9 p.m. Friday, police said.
In front of police, Mars said to her daughter, "You'll pay for this," according to police reports.
Mars was being held Saturday afternoon at county jail in Land O'Lakes on $5,000 bail.
Man charged with throwing hot dogs
NEW PORT RICHEY -- A man who was thrown out of Kokopelli's was arrested early Saturday after he threw hot dogs at police, officers reported.
Anthony Emory Passarella, 34, of 5636 Congress St. was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence, police said.
Two off-duty police officers told the man to leave Kokopelli's, 5327 U.S. 19, but he wouldn't go, police said. Instead Passarella threw hot dogs, causing a scene that grew to a crowd of about 20 people about 1:30 a.m. near Kokopelli's front door.
Passarella was being held Saturday at the jail in Land O'Lakes on $1,000 bail.
