Citrus digestBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 10, 2001 Manatee film premieres at parkHOMOSASSA SPRINGS -- Oceanic Research Group will premiere its manatee film entitled Endangered Mermaids at the Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park Visitor Center at 4 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Florida Room. Jonathan Bird, the underwater photographer and producer of the film, will introduce the documentary at each screening. The film tells the story of manatees through the eyes of people who care for them, study them and rescue them, and there are many area locations and residents who appear in the film including officials from the park, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and dive shops. The film also follows the work of federal Sirenia Project researcher Bob Bonde and visits the Last Generation Exhibit at Sea World.
