Mutiny's McCarty out 8-12 weeks

Mutiny defender Chad McCarty will miss 8-12 weeks after surgery Monday to repair his left ankle, broken Saturday in a 4-2 win over Dallas. The injury depletes a defense also without veteran Steve Trittschuh (broken leg) for 12 weeks.

Midfielder Josh Keller, who missed the opener with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee, and rookie defender Craig Demmin were listed as probable for Saturday's home opener against Columbus.

HORSES: The car of trainer John Tammaro was found at the bottom of a canal near Miramar, and police said a body, not identified late Monday, was inside. Police said they did not suspect foul play. Tammaro, missing nearly two weeks, trained Deputy Minister, the 1981 Eclipse Award winner as best 2-year-old colt or gelding. GOLF: The overnight rating for Sunday's final round of the Masters was unavailable late Monday, but Saturday's overnight rating was 7.8 with a 21 share, making it the seventh-highest third-round rating in Masters history and the highest since 1972 (9.1/27). The number is 32 percent higher than last year's 5.9 rating/15 share.
