Courthouse restoration to be honoredBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 11, 2001 INVERNESS -- The historic Citrus County Courthouse will be one of 10 restored buildings statewide to receive the highest honors next month from the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation, a private, non-profit group. At its May 19 ceremony in Jacksonville, Florida Trust will hand out its 2001 Historic Preservation Awards, including an "outstanding" certificate to the Citrus County Courthouse for the time and care that went into returning the 1912 building to its original glory, Florida Trust spokeswoman Heather Mitchell said. "It was absolutely amazing that they put that much effort and that much money into making sure the project was done correctly," she said, referring to the restorations that took six years and $2.4-million. "They did an exemplary job." © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
