Hometown CitrusBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 11, 2001 RecreationCanoers and kayakers are invited to compete in the Rainbow-Coochee Rivers Regatta. This two-river paddling event will be on April 28 on the Rainbow and Withlacoochee rivers. The competition will be at the Rainbow River at County Road 484. Parking will be at the County Road 484/Rainbow River tuber exit. A lunch will be provided for participants. Registration will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on race day. There will be two classes of competition with two categories each. The 12-mile competition class race starts at 10 a.m. and the 5-mile recreational class race begins at 10:30 a.m. The two categories in each class are junior and adult/youth. Entry fee is $12. Racers who register by April 15 will receive a T-shirt. To register by e-mail, send name, mailing address, phone, class and division to: thorfran@hotmail.com.
