School Board has expelled record number of studentsBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 11, 2001 INVERNESS -- In a closed session Tuesday, the School Board expelled 11 students bringing the total for the year to 54, a record. Three Crystal River High School ninth-graders, two male and one female, were expelled for violations of the district's zero tolerance policy on controlled substances. One Lecanto High School ninth-grade male student was expelled for false or misleading information and disruptive behavior. Three seventh-grade male students from Inverness Middle School were expelled for violations of the zero tolerance policy for controlled substances. A Citrus Springs Middle School sixth-grade female student was expelled for possession of a controlled substance and a seventh-grade female at the same school was expelled for school-related violent crime.
