WETLANDS FESTIVAL: Citrus Springs Elementary School will host its Wetland Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today. Local artists will have presentations about the Florida environment.

TOURNAMENT: The Citrus County Seminole Club's Sixth Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. May 12 at Citrus Hills Golf Club. The cost is $45 per player, which includes a continental breakfast, green fees, cart rental, beverages and a lunch buffet. Prizes, including a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, will be awarded. This tournament is limited to 144 players. Proceeds go toward scholarships awarded each year to high school seniors in the county. FIND THE ART IN SWEETARTS: Nestle SweeTARTS is challenging third- through eighth-grade students to jump-start their imaginations and create a life-size project in the "Find the Art in SweeTARTS . . . and Discover the Artist in YOU" national art contest. One grand-prize winner will receive $10,000 to benefit the students' school, and five runners-up will win $5,000 first-place prizes. To enter, each school must create a full-size mural or sculpture that best represents the combined efforts of the students and captures school spirit. A 5-by-7 photo of the artwork must be submitted and postmarked by May 30 and received by June 15. For more information, e-mail vanessa.lemen@mslpr.com.

HIGH SCHOOL PREVIEW DAY: Central Florida Community College in Ocala will host a High School Preview Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m April 20. High school juniors in Citrus and Levy counties are invited to plan their educational futures and learn how CFCC may help them attain their goals. The program will feature information about educational options, career choices, scholarships, financial aid, honors programs, athletics and student activities. Students will also receive a campus tour and a free lunch. For information, students should talk with their high school counselors or call CFCC at (352) 854-2322, ext. 1647.

HOMOSASSA AT SUGARMILL: Sixty Homosassa Elementary School students under the direction of music teacher Donna Olson will perform at 10 a.m. April 30 at Sugarmill Manor. The program will be an "All American Review."

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP: The Citrus County School Readiness Coalition, along with the Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter Readiness Coalitions, will present Sarah Sprinkle's Character Development Workshop on May 19 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m., with registration from 8 to 9 a.m. at Rock Crusher Canyon. The workshop is open to parents, grandparents, foster parents, child-care providers, teachers and administrators. Participants will receive information and materials to help teach skills that children need for living confident, happy, productive lives. There is a $5 registration fee that includes a deli buffet lunch.
