Class notesBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 12, 2001 BROOKSVILLE ELEMENTARY: The PTA will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the art room. SCHOOL ADVISORY COUNCIL: Brooksville's school advisory council will meet at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the media center. EASTSIDE ELEMENTARY: The school advisory committee will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the media center. WESTSIDE ELEMENTARY: The school will have its March of Dimes Wonder Walk from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at the school. The student who collects the most money will win a bicycle; second prize is a large radio, and third prize is a portable radio. Students who bring in $25 or more will receive T-shirts; the class raising the most money will get to have a pizza party. MOTON ELEMENTARY: The school advisory committee will meet at 6 p.m. April 23 in the cafeteria. FOX CHAPEL MIDDLE: The school advisory committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the media center. SUNCOAST ELEMENTARY: The school will have its spring carnival from 4:30-8:30 p.m. April 20 at the school. Tickets are four for $1 the day of the carnival. The event will feature a DJ, games, prizes, barbecue, a moonwalk, McGruff the Crime Dog, fire truck and ambulance, a petting zoo, pony rides and other activities. PINE GROVE ELEMENTARY: The school is taking requests from parents who want to select their child's teacher next year. Parents must fill out a form available in the school office. The deadline for forms is April 20. For information, call 797-7090. HERNANDO CHRISTIAN ACADEMY: The school will host its annual Mystery Dinner Theater at 7 p.m. April 27. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the school. Proceeds will benefit the school's senior class missions trip to Costa Rica in May. NEWSMAKERS:Eastside second-grader Gabriel Patrick was recognized as the top fundraiser for the school's St. Jude Children's Hospital Math-A-Thon. He raised $1,065, which was more than double the amount of his school-high record last year of $474.05. In total, the school raised $1,986.61 this year from 29 participating students. TheWal-Mart/Sam's Club Community Scholarship Committee recently awarded Central High seniorAlan Pagan a $1,000 scholarship. The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce honored seniors in the top 5 percent of their graduating classes with a banquet April 4 at Silverthorn Country Club. KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUPS: During the next several weeks many Hernando elementary schools will be have advance registration sessions for children entering kindergarten in the fall. Parents must bring a certified copy of the child's birth certificate (hospital records are not acceptable), the child's Social Security number, a certificate of immunization and results of a recent physical. In addition, many schools require proof of residency as well. The dates for kindergarten roundups are as follows: Eastside Elementary, Tuesday, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. and at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
