Recent releases recommended by Times film critic Steve Persall
1. Bridget Jones's Diary -- One year in the daffy, dismal life of a British "singleton," played with pinched-face charm by Renee Zellweger.
2. Blow -- Johnny Depp scores in this fact-based story of a small-town boy making good in the cocaine trade. Penelope Cruz co-stars.
3. Heartbreakers -- Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt play a mother-daughter con team with designs on a tobacco tycoon's fortune. Gene Hackman is hilarious as the grumpy old victim.
4. The Brothers -- Four lifelong friends cope with the women in their lives in Gary Hardwick's refreshing comedy of manners set among affluent African-Americans.
5. Kingdom Come -- Screwball comedy centering on a dead man and the eccentric family who despised him. LL Cool J, Jada Pinkett Smith and Whoopi Goldberg lead the ensemble cast.
