Carl DiMartino won a game with his eighth home run. Kurt Shafer struck out 14 Springstead Eagles. Brian Baisley was 5-for-10 with a a home run and two doubles. But for our money, Danny Wardell had the best week. The Bulldog junior did the near impossible: he raised a batting average that was already above .500, going 9-for-14 with two home runs and five RBI. He homered for the sixth time in seven games against Pasco and pitched a shutout against Tampa Jesuit while going 2-for-3. For the season, Wardell is hitting .550.
