PETERSBURG -- The St. Petersburg branch of the NAACP will hold a public forum Monday night about the Pinellas County school district's plans to let parents choose their children's schools in 2003-2004. The forum begins at 7 p.m. in the NAACP's headquarters, 1501 16th St. S. The School Board already has decided to implement a choice plan as part of the settlement with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to end court-ordered busing for desegregation. But some details of the plan have not been worked out, and that's what the NAACP is seeking feedback on. For instance, the group wants to know what kind of programs schools should offer to attract students. Information gathered at the forum will be reported to the School Board at its 1 p.m. Tuesday meeting. Reclaimed water to be shut off temporarilyPINELLAS PARK -- The city's reclaimed water service will be shut off from 8 a.m. April 24 through 8 a.m. April 26 while construction takes place at Pinellas County's Southcross Wastewater Treatment Plant. Ybor official to speak at redevelopment meetingST. PETERSBURG -- The manager of Ybor City's state Main Street program will speak Monday at the 6 p.m. 22nd Street Redevelopment Corp. meeting at Perkins Elementary Center for the Arts and International Studies. The public is invited. Perkins is at 2205 18th Ave. S. Gail Hamilton is leading Ybor City's effort to revive its original business district. The 22nd Street group is working on a similar project and hopes to win its own Main Street designation later this year. The designation would bring state training and technical assistance to property owners on the street. Boley Centers to hold job fair April 24Boley Centers, a local non-profit mental health care agency, will hold a job fair from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 24 at 2901 44th Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Various positions are available in the residential, case management, vocational, administration and day services areas. On site interviews will be conducted. Relay for Life events to be held in April and MayRelay for Life 2001, an overnight, community-based, fundraising event for the American Cancer Society is designed to celebrate cancer survivorship as well as to raise money. Relay for Life will be held on a number of different dates and in various Pinellas and Hillsborough county sites. The fundraiser involves teams of people going to the site of their choice, taking with them camping equipment, chairs, radios, etc. Teams of ten or more will "relay-walk" around the track from 6 p.m. until noon at each of the following sites: April 27-28: Dunedin High School Stadium, 1651 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin.
