Post offices ready for last-minute filersBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 16, 2001 Because the April 15th filing deadline arrived on the weekend, taxpayers have until midnight tonight to get their returns in the mail (11:59 p.m. if you want to be precise). As usual, some post offices will be open extended hours to accommodate last-minute filers looking for an April 16 postmark. In Tampa, postal officials are offering drop-off services from 4 p.m. to midnight in three parking lots to reduce congestion at the main post office.
