Tabitha Schrufer, Citrus softball

During the past two seasons, the Citrus senior has been the master of the one-hitter. Last week, she did one better.

In a 4-0 win over Leesburg, Schrufer (14-4) struck out five and threw the first no-hitter of her career. "She's come close at least on two dozen occasions," Citrus coach Scott Waters said. "Since she's been here, she's had at least 12 one-hitters and just as many two-hitters."

Amber Presnick and Jessica Macdonald made diving catches to help preserve the no-hitter.

Honorable mention

SOFTBALL: Melissa Coburn of Crystal River went 2-for-3 in a loss to River Ridge. Earlier in the week, she had three hits in a win over South Sumter.

Courtenay Ryals of Crystal River had two triples in a 3-1 win over Pinellas Park.

Jessica Wilroy of Crystal River drove in the game-winning run with a single in a 2-1 win over Lecanto.

BASEBALL: Will Bleakley of Crystal River allowed four hits and three runs in a 13-3 win over 14-4 Marietta (Ga.).

Sam McLain of Citrus went 6-for-10 last week and 5-for-6 during a two-game stretch. His two-run single helped the Hurricanes get past Wesley Chapel 2-1.

Jimmy Metz of Lecanto struck out 11 and allowed one earned run in a 7-1 loss to Zephyrhills. In a win over Lake Weir, Metz went 2-for-3 with a home run.

Flint Whitelaw tossed a two-hitter on 68 pitches to lead the Hurricanes past Wesley Chapel. He allowed one earned run in improving to 3-1.

TENNIS: Both Lecanto squads posted 7-0 wins over Crystal River to cap 16-0 regular seasons. The boys were led by Samir Amin, Ankoor Patel, Jon Ponds, Avash Rao, Rushil Rao, and Naveen Reddy. Mujiba Ansari, Sireesha Bellam, Ashley Campbell, Tina Gurnani, Jennifer Rimes, Jessie Roberts and Nisha Shah earned wins for the girls.
