HOLIDAY -- A 40-year-old man was charged Sunday with aggravated battery, simple battery and criminal mischief after he slapped his girlfriend and attacked his neighbors, deputies said.
Stephen M. Sears of 4908 Panorama Ave. slapped his girlfriend on the wrist, punched a hole in the bedroom wall and knocked two televisions over, said a Pasco County Sheriff's Office report. He also is accused of smashing the windshield of his girlfriend's car.
Sears' girlfriend ran to a neighbor's house to call 911. Sears ran outside and started yelling at a neighbor and her child. Deputies said he hit the woman in the chest and stomach with a golf club, the report said.
The woman ran to a nearby home, and he ran after her and kicked her, a deputy said. He also damaged another neighbor's screen door and grabbed a can of gasoline and ignited the neighbor's wooden fence.
Sears was being held Monday night at the county jail in Land O'Lakes on a $20,500 bond.

HUDSON -- A man who was out on bail on an armed robbery charge was arrested Sunday night and charged with aggravated battery after brandishing a butcher knife at four people, deputies said.
Justin Scott Dewar, 19, of 4384 Fifth Isle, Shady Hills, cut one person on the stomach, said Pasco County sheriff's deputies. The cut was shallow, deputies said, and three other people said they feared Dewar would cut them during the 3:20 a.m. altercation at 12538 Third Isle.
Deputies arrested Dewar and charged him with one count of aggravated battery and three counts of aggravated assault.
He was being held Monday night on $50,000 bail at the county jail in Land O'Lakes.
