Mature driver course scheduled for Wednesday

A Coaching the Mature Driver Education Class is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday (including a half an hour for a lunch break) at Claude Pepper Senior Center, 6640 Van Buren, New Port Richey.

Advance registration is not required. $10 covers the cost of materials. For information call Susan Samson at 844-5866.

Successful completion of the course may result in rate reductions for auto insurance. Experienced drivers benefit from this educational class, which provides defensive driving information and guides seniors to review driving habits. The goal of the course is to help the aging driver reduce chances of having a collision while driving.

High Twelve Club hosts annual picnic

The West Pasco Holiday High Twelve Club 418 is hosting an annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fred Howard Park, shelter 6, Tarpon Springs.

Ray Bearns, director, will be in charge of the annual event. Cost is $6 per person. For reservations call Bearns at 938-1167. Entertainment will be provided by Randy's Musical Group. The picnic will be catered by International Caterers.

Administrator will speak to neighborhood group

John Gallagher, county administrator, will be the speaker when the Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) meets at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the New Port Richey City Hall, Main Street, New Port Richey.

Single Suncoasters have picnic on Wednesday

Single Suncoasters are planning a picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Frances Avenue Park, Louisiana Avenue, New Port Richey.

Accountant group plans tax post-mortem

The North Suncoast Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants will meet for a tax season post-mortem and dinner Wednesday at Seven Springs Country Club, 3535 Trophy Boulevard, New Port Richey.

The board will meet at 3 p.m. with the technical session and dinner to follow. Cost is $25.

Michigan Club hosts picnic on Wednesday

The Suncoast Michigan Club is hosting an annual picnic luncheon at noon Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park, 14333 Hicks Road, Hudson.

Participants are requested to pay $1 and bring food to share, their own beverage and table service and a serving spoon.

Socialites group presents hoedown

The Socialites are presenting a Western Hoedown Wednesday featuring the Back Home Boys with Herb Walker, Red Mock and Cozin Alonzo.

The luncheon is scheduled at noon at the TAT clubhouse, 3210 Darlington Road, Holiday.

Lunch features barbecued ham on a bun, baked beans and potato salad, peach shortcake and a beverage. Cost is $4.50 for club members and $5.50 for non-members.

The Donald M. Michels Jr., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6180 and Auxiliary, 11551 Osceola Drive, New Port Richey will serve a Wednesday Night special pork loin dinner with dressing from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $4.50. For information, call 863-8824.

The Knights of Columbus, Father Farrell Council 6476 is sponsoring a dinner-dance Wednesday at the council hall, 2040 Grand Boulevard, Holiday. The World War II, U.S. Navy Armed Guard and Merchant Seamen will meet for a Dutch Treat Lunch at noon Wednesday at Kally K's Restaurant, 5622 U.S. 19, New Port Richey.

Harold Ceaser and his wife, Diane, will be hosts.

There will be time for scuttlebutt, awarding of prizes and latest information on reunions and the Veterans Administration.
