Canterbury boys, girls roll to winsBy RODNEY PAGE © St. Petersburg Times, published April 19, 2000 ST. PETERSBURG -- Canterbury's boys swept all five singles and both doubles matches, and the girls won all but one singles match to win the Class A, District 10 championship at Eckerd College on Tuesday. Both teams will host Saddlebrook in today's regional match. Kris Goddard, Jon Crooms, Erik Schmeiser, Greg Stone and Jon Brett won singles championships. Goddard and Crooms won No. 1 doubles, and Schmeiser and Brett won No. 2 doubles. On the girls side, Aimee Downey won at No. 2 singles, Michelle Murman at No. 3, Jenna Ruth at No. 4 and Katie Lee at No. 5. Kelly Nelson of Shorecrest defeated Natalie Tirapelli of Canterbury 6-3, 6-4 in No. 1 singles. Nelson automatically advances to the state tournament next week in Gainesville.
