Jan Glidewell deserves kudos for April 3 piece
© St. Petersburg Times, published April 19, 2001
Editor: I meant to write before now, but being an accountant, I just now find myself with enough spare time to tell you how much I enjoyed Jan Glidewell's April 3 column Potter's wheel helps the circle continue.
I loved that article. He's great anyway, but I saved it and read it often. It always brings a tear.
Upset teacher should leave her difficult job situation
Editor: Re: Should we work for this employer?, April 16 letter to the editor:
I say "Go!" I've tried it, so I speak from experience.
I "went." It was a number of years ago. Different county, same nonsense.
This young man went out of his way to help
Editor: We hear so much about troubled students; here's one for the other side.
I was going to the movies, then I realized I had inadvertently left my keys in the car. After telling the manager my plight, a young man from Hernando High School, working at the theater, offered to drive me home for my other set of keys. Unfortunately, all my windows and doors were locked at home, so he returned me to the theater. He called the AAA for me on his cell phone before returning to work.
This young adult's kindness and courtesy made a harrowing experience for this senior citizen less stressful than it might have been.
Accolades to this student, his parents and his school.
Religious tolerance is key to forgiveness
Editor: Re: Why not show some respect on Easter?, April 17 letter to the editor:
Sounds like Betty Thompson thinks her belief is the only recognized faith. Joshua Liebman once said, "Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's belief, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting those beliefs."
Christians are not the only people who seek inspiration this time of year from what they believe to be their Creator.
Tolerance, Ms. Thompson, is the key to forgiveness.
