Loose changeCompiled from Times wires © St. Petersburg Times, published April 22, 2001 JOB SEEKERS, TAKE NOTE: Never boast about accomplishments beyond the scope of your job during an interview, and don't criticize others or complain, Management Recruiters International counsels. FINANCIAL KNOW-HOW: Students have a lot to learn about money basics, a survey conducted for Americans for Consumer Education and Competition indicates. Forty percent of 800 students nationwide thought interest rates are lower on credit card and car loans than on mortgage loans; only 25 percent knew federal income taxes are withheld from paychecks. DON'T TALK AND DRIVE: A survey by Progressive Insurance illustrates the danger of using a cell phone while driving. Among more than 800 respondents, 46 percent said they have swerved into another lane while chatting on the phone; and 41 percent have unintentionally increased their speed. COMPUTER TURNOFF: A group of experts formed to provide tips on saving energy in the workplace suggests that staffers shut down computers that won't be used for more than 16 minutes. The Commercial Energy Efficiency News Bureau says at that point, the energy needed to run a computer exceeds the energy needed to start one. DROP-TOP FUN: DaimlerChrysler is considering taking the top off its hot-selling PT Cruiser. Product design executive Trevor Creed says the automaker's design study is "the latest example of the sort of fun we can have with the PT Cruiser. And there's more to come." He didn't say what. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
