TRIBUTE TO JUDGE JAMES SANDERLIN: Outstanding local artists lend their talents to a variety show, 7:30 p.m. in the Palladium Theater, 253 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. In this tribute that benefits the community center named to honor Judge Sanderlin, performers include the Gulf to Bay Chorus of Sweet Adelines International, the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet with dancers Victor Barauskas, Holly Eisengart, Sean Musselman, Angel Terrell and Teresa Bargiel, the Sunstate Opera Society and the Alumni Singers. $15 at the door. PLEIN AIR PAINTING: 23 artists converge on downtown St. Petersburg between Fifth avenues N and S and Seventh Street and the bay. Painting en plein air (in the open air) challenges artists to concentrate on the information in front of them and re-create the vision. A party and silent auction of the paintings begins at 7 p.m. on the BayWalk terraces. ST. ANTHONY'S TRIATHLON: World-class event adds an ITU World Cup race, one of only 12 in the world. The festivities begin with a multi-sport expo, 2-7 p.m. Saturday morning at 8, amateur athletes of all ages run the Meek & Mighty Triathlon.
