SAN ANTONIO -- Florida Highway Patrol troopers Monday released the identity of a pedestrian killed over the weekend on Interstate 75 near State Road 52.
Jeffrey T. Joyce, 44, of 7233 Sky Court in Spring Hill died after he was hit by four cars in the northbound lane of I-75 about 2 a.m. Sunday.
A report stated that at the time of the accident, Joyce had exited a vehicle on the east shoulder of the interstate and was sitting in the inside lane.
He first was struck by 27-year-old Jennifer Diane Anctil of Dunnellon. The driver of the second car left the scene and didn't provide troopers with information.
The third driver to hit Joyce was Nathaniel Kirk Fugate, 31, of Brooksville. The fourth was Caroline Jacoba Ramirez, 25, of Dade City.
Joyce was pronounced dead at the scene. It wasn't clear Monday how Joyce was hit by four consecutive cars. Trooper William Courtney, who worked the accident, was unavailable for comment Monday.
Neither Joyce's family nor any of the drivers involved could be reached for comment Monday. The accident remains under investigation. No charges have been filed.
