CSMS FAMILY FUN: Citrus Spring Middle School will hold its third annual Family Fun Festival from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a dance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $5 and include the dinner, admission to the festival and admission to the dance. Game tickets will cost extra. There will be a face-painting booth, a cake walk, possibly a dunking booth, a silent auction, a duck pond, a lollipop tree, a soda grab and possibly a hole-in-one putting game. New attractions may include a palm reader and a pie throw. The Sock Hop will be in the gym. This year's fundraising goal is $10,000 and will go to homeless or needy families.

CHICKEN POX VACCINE: As of the beginning of the new school year, any child entering, attending or transferring to a preschool or kindergarten in Florida who has never had chicken pox will have to get the Varicella vaccine against chicken pox. Children may receive the shots from private physicians or, free of charge, from the Citrus County Health Department. LMS PARENT ORIENTATION: Lecanto Middle School will hold a parent orientation program for incoming sixth-grade students from 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 8 beginning in the cafeteria. For information, call 746-2050.

HOMOSASSA AT SUGARMILL: The Homosassa Elementary School Chorus under the direction of music teacher Donna Olson will perform at 10 a.m. Monday at Sugarmill Manor. The program will be an "All American Review."

NOAH'S ENROLLMENT: Open enrollments are now being taken at Noah's Christian Academy, 3429 W Dunnellon Road, Dunnellon. There are openings for all ages. For information, call 352-489-2920. HOP IN PRE-K: All children age 4 by Sept. 1 can register for prekindergarten from 6 to 7 p.m. May 1 in the Floral City Elementary cafeteria. Sign up for dinner; pizza will be served. Call 726-1554.

GRADE FIVE NIGHT: There will be a parents' night for the parents of next year's sixth-graders at 7 p.m. May 8 in the Inverness Middle School cafeteria. For information, call 726-1471.

FLORAL CITY ELEMENTARY DAYCARE REGISTRATION: Register for before and after school day care for the 2001-2002 school year between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m. or between 2:30 and 6 p.m. in the Floral City Elementary cafeteria. Applications must be in or updated by Monday . For information, call 726-1554.

STUDENT OF THE YEAR DINNER: The West Citrus Elks Lodge No. 2693 will hold its annual Student of the Year dinner at 6 p.m. on May 3 at the lodge. There will be 36 seniors from Lecanto and Crystal River high schools. All will receive recognition for their accomplishments, and the Elks will present $500 scholarships to each student. Superintendent of Schools David Hickey will be the featured speaker. A Salisbury steak dinner will be served. Tickets are available at the Lodge for $6 per person. All members are encouraged to attend.

CFCC SPRING TERM COMMENCEMENT TO BE HELD AT THE OCALA CAMPUS: Central Florida Community College will hold its commencement ceremony for the spring graduating class at 7 p.m. May 4 on the center lawn of the Ocala Campus, 3001 SW College Road. Approximately 400 students will be awarded associate's degrees and certificates.

At the ceremony, Ocala police Chief Morrey Deen will be presented with the CFCC Distinguished Alumni Award; U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns will receive the CFCC Distinguished Service Award.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: The Citrus County Seminole Club's Sixth Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. May 12 at Citrus Hills Golf Club. The cost is $45 per player, which includes a continental breakfast, green fees, cart rental, beverages and a lunch buffet. Prizes, including a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, will be awarded. This tournament is limited to 144 players. Proceeds go toward scholarships awarded each year to high school seniors in the county. FIND THE ART IN SWEETARTS: Nestle SweeTARTS is challenging third- through eighth-grade students to jump-start their imaginations and create a life-size project in the "Find the Art in SweeTARTS . . . and Discover the Artist in YOU" national art contest. One grand-prize winner will receive $10,000 to benefit the students' school, and five runners-up will win $5,000 first-place prizes. To enter, each school must create a full-size mural or sculpture that best represents the combined efforts of the students and captures school spirit.
