VFW GOOD CITIZENS: Hernando Elementary School announces its VFW Good Citizens for April. Kindergarten -- Kayla Axtell. First grade -- Danielle Stakes, Ryan Underhill. Second grade -- Shannon Brown, Mellisa Tenney. Third grade -- May Chonchaiya, Robert Laflamme. Fourth grade -- James Jeter, Michael Major. Fifth grade -- Benjamin Brown, Whitney Miller.
EXCELLENCE IN MUSIC: Rock Crusher Elementary School music education teacher Don DeVito was awarded the 2001 David L. Wilmon Prizes for Excellence in Music Education. This award is given to an outstanding Doctoral Student in Music Education at the University of Florida School of Music.
