Tell her what you've been keeping from her all these years. Maybe you do know what happened to her serving bowl. Maybe you weren't really at Donna's for a sleepover when you said you were. Maybe she was right about that guy you dated in college. Maybe she was right about a lot of things. Your letter to your mom can be sweet. It can be dark. It must be true. Write it as if she were going to read it: "Dear Mom," etc. (Please, we're begging you: no poetry.) Send it to us at Dear Mom, Floridian, St. Petersburg Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33731.
