Food bank holding charity auction

The Pasco Food Bank is having its 8th annual charity auction and 10th anniversary celebration Saturday at the FOP Lodge on YMCA Camp Road in Land O'Lakes. Preview begins at 5:30 p.m. and bidding at 7 p.m. Refreshments include Tennessee Smokehouse barbecue, sandwiches, salads, snacks, desserts and a cash bar.

Items to bid on include antique furniture, crystal, china, jewelry, artwork, themed baskets, sports memorabilia, diving lessons and gift certificates. Cost is $15 per person.

Citizens for Sanity meeting Wednesday

Citizens for Sanity will have an executive board meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Pasco Professional Center at 4111 Land O'Lakes Blvd. The public is welcome. The group is made up of people concerned about improving the quality of life and government throughout Pasco County.

Free dance lesson offered at Legion post

Each Friday a professional dance instructor from a local dance school will provide a free half-hour lesson at the newly reorganized Dance Social being established at the Odessa American Legion Post 147, 17413 Gunn Highway in Odessa. A mix of ballroom, disco, Latin, '50s and '60s and line dance music will be played from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and includes coffee, cake and snacks.

Library to display artist's work

During May, paintings by award-winning artist Helen Digristina of Land O'Lakes will be displayed at the Land O'Lakes Branch Library, 2818 Collier Parkway. Masters of Fine Art meets from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday at the Pasco County Recreation Complex, 3023 Collier Parkway.

Garden club meeting at Red Lobster

Members of the Land O'Lakes Garden Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. May 1 at Red Lobster on Dale Mabry in Carrollwood. Members who want to car pool should meet at 10:45 a.m. at the Land O'Lakes Community Center on U.S. 41. Cars will leave promptly at 11 a.m. The club members will not meet during the summer. Four chambers join for mixer tonight

Four chambers of commerce will join together from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Solutions Thrift Store, 35535 State Road 52 in Dade City. This combined chamber mixer will be hosted by Sunrise Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center and the Greater Dade City Chamber of Commerce. For information or to reserve a seat, call (352) 521-3358. There will be door prizes, refreshments and an opportunity to shop at the thrift store. The four chambers are Dade City, Central Pasco, Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills.

Plant Society to teach landscaping

Members of the Florida Native Plant Society will teach people how to landscape Florida with native plants and save water at the Earth Day Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Crews Lake Park, 16739 Crews Lake Drive in Shady Hills. The group will have its regular monthly meeting at the Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 8. Beth Connor, a field researcher on the anti-sprawl campaign of the Sierra Club, will be the featured speaker and will discuss A Tale of Two Counties: Urban Sprawl. Quail Hollow PTA holding family carnival

Quail Hollow PTA is sponsoring a free family carnival, music program, health fair, art show and Taste of Wesley Chapel from 5:30 to 8:30 tonight at the school located at 5050 Quail Hollow Blvd. In addition to local restaurants providing samples of favorite foods, there will be carnival games and activities, music by the school's chorus and classic cars on display.
