Three taken to jail after alleged theftBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published April 27, 2000 SPRING HILL -- Two teens were arrested Wednesday after authorities said they stole property from a man's truck and then got beat up after the man found out they were responsible. Richard Lee Price, 19, of 7117 Pinewood Drive in New Port Richey, and a Land O'Lakes teen, whose name the Times is withholding because of his age, face burglary charges. According to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report, the two teens broke into the truck of New Port Richey resident James Cornwell, 24, while the vehicle was parked near the Anchor Bar, 8263 Cortez Blvd. in Spring Hill. They took various items, including a stereo and a cellular phone, the report said. Cornwell told deputies he and his friends confronted the two teens and another friend of theirs, Corey Goldrick, who was present during the burglary but did not break into the truck, the report said. One teen told deputies Cornwell attacked him and ripped a necklace from his neck. The necklace was not recovered, and Cornwell, of 7405 Rockwood Drive, was not charged. He ended up in jail anyway, however, on a Pasco County warrant for violating probation on a grand theft charge. All three were taken to the Hernando County Jail, where Price remained Wednesday in lieu of $2,013 bail and Cornwell remained without bail. The other teen was released to his parents.
