NEW PORT RICHEY -- A 25-year-old mother of two died during a car crash at U.S. 19 and Gulf Trace Boulevard late Monday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Amy Kimberly Baldree of New Port Richey was driving home from her job at a local hotel at 10:14 p.m. when the crash occurred. She was driving north on U.S. 19, in the center lane, when she lost control of her car, troopers said. The car slid sideways, ran over the median and became airborne as it careened into the southbound lanes. A car driving south struck Baldree's car, said Trooper Terry Sims.

Baldree was partially ejected from her car and died at the scene, he said. The driver of the other car, William F. Harris, 61, of Spring Hill, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he was listed in serious condition Tuesday evening.

Sims said the crash is still under investigation.
