Comedy and acoustic music meet as singer/songwriter Vance Gilbert brings his difficult-to-label show to the bay area today. First, Vance will be at Borders booksstore on Tyrone Boulevard in St. Petersburg at 12:30 p.m. Then it's on to the Octagon Arts Center (Unitarian Universalist Church of Clearwater) at 2470 Nursery Road in Clearwater at 8 p.m. Tickets are $13. An evening of food, music and the unveiling of a history exhibit begins at 6 p.m. today at the Withlacoochee State Trail and the Jenrette Gazebo in downtown Floral City. Residents are invited to bring a chair or blanket (and insect repellent is wise). Barbecued chicken will be available at 6 p.m. The unveiling of an interpretive history exhibit is at 7 p.m., followed by music.

The Sertoma Youth Ranch Spring Bluegrass Festival starts at 5 p.m. today and continues through Sunday at Sertoma Youth Ranch near Spring Lake in southeastern Hernando County. Weekend tickets are $30. Friday and Saturday tickets are $13 each; Sunday tickets are $8. Children ages 12-16 pay $2 per day, and children younger than 12 are admitted free. Call (352) 754-3082.

THINGS TO VIEW . . .

Bill Cosby's CBS sitcom, Cosby, which was moved and pre-empted several times this year, airs its finale. Tonight Hilton (Cosby) finds an opportunity to talk about why he and Ruth (Phylicia Rashad) have remained happy in their long marriage. 8:30 p.m. It's Nancy Drew night on TCM. These features from the late 1930s are all shorter than 70 minutes, in the B-movie tradition. Bonita Granville stars as the young detective. 8 p.m.
