Practice for the first football season at Mitchell High School, scheduled to begin Monday, will not start until May 5 because of a death in coach Scott Schmitz's family.

Mitchell will play a junior varsity schedule this season before beginning varsity football in 2001.

Schmitz, the former coach at River Ridge, is heading up the program.
