Tonight: Storm at Milwaukee

By JOHN C. COTEY

© St. Petersburg Times, published May 4, 2001

WHEN/WHERE: 8; Bradley Center.

RADIO: WDAE-AM 620.

SERIES: Tampa Bay leads 4-2.

RECORDS: Tampa Bay 2-0, Milwaukee 0-2.

COACHES: Tampa Bay -- Tim Marcum (128-37, 13th season). Milwaukee -- Rick Frazier (21-23, fourth).

LAST MEETING: Storm won 72-64 in July.

OUTLOOK: The Storm goes on the road for the first time and will be trying for its first 3-0 start since 1996. It is a little banged up, with QB John Kaleo nursing a sore thumb and FB/LB Andre Bowden out with a foot injury. It is Bowden's first trip to the injured list in his career. Kaleo will start and try to bounce back from a 21-for-44 outing in the Storm's last game. That hasn't stopped the Storm from averaging 54 points in two wins, and Kaleo has not been sacked. WR/LB Bernard Edwards (12 catches, 173 yards, 4 TDs) and OS James Bowden (17-181-4) have been Kaleo's top targets. The Storm defense ranks sixth in the league and will take on the league's poorest offense at 24 ppg. The Mustangs are led by former Arizona QB Donnie Davis, who came off the bench to the lead the Rattlers to a semifinal win over the Storm in 1997, and former Storm FB/LB Les Barley, the league's all-time leading rusher.
