As you approach this island oasis, you can't miss the old lighthouse on the southern tip that preservationists have been fighting to rebuild. But Anclote Key has more to offer than history. Anglers know these waters well. The seagrass beds on the leeward side offer some of the best trout and red drum fishing on the Suncoast. The Gulf beaches provide great snook fishing with the summer tides. Camping is permitted on the northern end. Be sure to notify the rangers of your intentions. Call Anclote Key State Preserve at (727) 469-5942 for more information.
