Merry Pier

Everything that swims in Boca Ciega Bay has to pass by this tiny pier on its way to the Gulf of Mexico. Anglers catch sheepshead, gag grouper and Spanish mackerel when they are running. When you get tired of fishing you can walk a couple of blocks to the Hurricane Restaurant and watch one of the best sunsets on Florida's West Coast. Merry Pier has its own bait shop, Pass-A-Grille Bait & Tackle, 801 Pass-A-Grille Way, which rents equipment. The hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call (727) 360-6606.
