The great thing about this windsurfing hot spot is that it doesn't matter if the wind is blowing from the north or south, the sailing is good.
Pinellas County is blessed with several windsurfing spots: Dunedin, the Belleair Causeway, Tierra Verde and Fort DeSoto Park. Go out and watch the pros or get a board and try it yourself.
The best thing for the beginner is to visit a school or shop that offers lessons and try a variety of boards before buying. Don't think you are going to master it overnight. Windsurfing is a lot like golf. The more you play, the better you get.
