WESLEY CHAPEL -- Five homeowners have billed Pasco County for repairs to lawn sprinklers dirtied by errant wastewater spilling into the reclaimed water system last month, county officials said.
But the county will probably continue to accept receipts for sprinkler repair for the next couple of months, assistant county administrator Doug Bramlett said Thursday.
Pasco has reserved $80,000 to cover damage caused by the accidental pollution of the sprinkler system that struck as many as 10 central Pasco neighborhoods in mid-April.
Wastewater produced sulfurous fumes and clogged sprinkler heads in neighborhoods such as Meadow Pointe and the Lakes at Northwood.
Bramlett said most of the 2,700 affected property owners got notices with this week's water bill informing them of the county's reimbursement plan. The average cost to the county from the five people seeking reimbursement was $150, he said.
