TAMPA -- Plain-clothes officers arrested a man Friday who they said robbed and beat a blind neighbor and his mother.
Officers arrested 39-year-old Victor Ray DuBoise and charged him with aggravated abuse of a disabled person and burglary.
According to a Police Department news release, 38-year-old Larry P. Suttles and his mother, Patricia Matthews, had hired DuBoise to do chores around their house. On Tuesday, police said the suspect hit Suttles on the head with a brick and a concrete block, smashed in the glass of a door and forced his way inside the house.
The suspect then battered Matthews, 56, and stole $80 from a wallet, police said. Suttles suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a hospital.
DuBoise has been arrested 45 times, according to police.
