Like many around the league, Rays manager Hal McRae was surprised at the news Johnny Oates resigned as manager of a star-studded Texas team after an 11-17 start. "Normally managers don't walk away from good clubs," he said. "I was shocked and surprised because a club like Texas can always come back."
