Church ladies guild names new officers

St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Guild has announced new officers for the coming year.

Jean Flynn will serve as president.

She will be assisted by Sylvia Archibald, first vice president; Jean Partins, second vice president; June Rinard, secretary; and Stella Simone, treasurer.

The new officers will be installed at the 11 a.m. Mass on Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Holiday.

A potluck luncheon in Father Farrell Hall adjacent to the church will follow the installation ceremony.

The Ladies Guild meets the second Tuesday of the month from September through May. Coffee hour is at noon, with the meeting at 1 p.m.

Holiday VFW post to host dinner-dance Tuesday

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Holiday Post 10167 is hosting a dinner-dance at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the post home, 4619 Bartelt Road.

A complete spaghetti with sausage dinner including a glass of wine will cost $5.25.

From 6 to 9 p.m., Mike Reimbisz will provide music. For information, call 938-5977.

Retired railway workers to hold annual picnic

The National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees Unit 170 is sponsoring its annual picnic at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anderson Park, Shelter 4, Tarpon Springs.

Birthday, Mother's Day events planned by group

The Methodist Women of Faith United Methodist Church is hosting a birthday dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday and a mother-daughter banquet at 11 a.m. Saturday. Both activities will be at the church, 12128 State Road 52, Hudson.

The birthday dinner will celebrate everyone's birthday. Salisbury steak will be served. Tickets are $6.

All women are invited to the mother-daughter banquet to celebrate Mother's Day weekend. Cost is $4. For tickets and information to both events, call 856-5000.

Pets Add Life shows to be presented this month

Pets Add Life will present a Wedding Show with their pets at various performances during May.

Shows will be Tuesday at Windsor Woods in Hudson, May 15 at National Health Care in Hudson, May 22 at Harborside in New Port Richey and May 29 at the Arbors in Hudson. All shows are at 10 a.m. Those interested in joining the group or to see a performance are encouraged to call 863-8214.

Starting a business is theme of seminar

"How to Successfully Start Up a Small Florida Business" will be the theme for a seminar to be conducted by Eleanor Hollis of Score Chapter 439 at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Huntington Bank conference center, 6128 U.S. 19, New Port Richey.
