Students' water posters win statewide contest

Two St. Petersburg students were statewide winners in the 14th annual Drop Savers Water Conservation poster contest. The competition, open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade, was part of Florida's observance of National Drinking Water Week, which began Sunday and continues through Saturday.

Addy Kolonick from Westgate Elementary School won first place in the kindergarten-Grade 1 category. Shelby Begany from Bay Point Elementary School won first place in the fourth- and fifth-grade category.

Addy and Shelby were first-place winners in St. Petersburg's regional competition in April. Other first-, second- and third-place Pinellas County winners were:

Julie Guerrieri, Jessica Lanning and Kelsey Egan, St. Petersburg Christian School; Sidney Sue Howard, Lutheran Church of the Cross; Sara Kesneck, Holy Family Catholic School; Sean Wall, Grace Lutheran School; and Natasha M. Bell, Campbell Park Elementary School.
