Focus on volunteers

The Science Center of Pinellas County, 7701 22nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, needs volunteers to help in its gift shop from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. one day a week. Responsibilities include filling store orders and stamping merchandise. For information, call Cindy Paquin at 384-0027.

The Juvenile Welfare Board is looking for Pinellas County residents, including high school and college students, to serve on one of three community councils. Members meet monthly to gather and distribute information, list community needs and trends, evaluate issues on families and neighborhoods, monitor community initiatives and make recommendations to the Juvenile Welfare Board. True Expressions, a non-profit organization that provides peer support, educational programs and social activities for young people dealing with sexual orientation issues, is looking for volunteers. Opportunities include weekly peer support group meetings, setting up and running a new drop-in center in St. Petersburg, and fundraising. For information, call the organization's pager at 553-8783.
