Residents to discuss planned homesBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published May 10, 2001 Homeowners in Grovewood Estates plan to meet tonight for barbecue and to share their beefs over a proposed 500-home subdivision southwest of State Road 52 and the Suncoast Parkway. The 8 p.m. meeting at Rob's Barbecue on State Road 52 will focus on the rezoning of 295 acres for the Suncoast Centre project. Residents of Grovewood Estates, 50 lots adjoining the Suncoast Centre property, worry about developers' plans to merge their sole entrance, Murcott Way, with the road serving Suncoast Centre's 500 homes. "It would be terrible making on left on SR 52 with 500 other people," meeting organizer Dee Burke said. Suncoast Centre is proposed for a portion of the former Pottberg Ranch, most of which became the Serenova nature preserve. In addition to the homes, landowner GBY Inc. proposes shopping centers, offices and warehouses on the property. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
