The 12th annual Turnaround Achievement Awards were sponsored by the Citrus County Bowling Council.

CITRUS SPRINGS -- Abraham Lincoln lost his mother at age 9. Beethoven was deaf. Winston Churchill failed a grade once and Thomas Edison's teachers thought he was slow, said School Board member Pat Deutschman.
She gave these examples of great achievers who overcame obstacles in their lives in her address to the students gathered at Andre's of Citrus Hills on May 3 to celebrate their accomplishments at the 12th annual Turnaround Achievement Awards.
Twenty-three students were recognized by representatives of their schools at the event sponsored by the Citrus County Bowling Council, which includes Manatee Lanes, Sportsmen's Bowl, Neff's Lanes and Parkview Lanes.
The following students were chosen by their schools for making changes for the better in attendance, attitude and/or academics: Bilial Jenkins, Crystal River Primary School; Matthew Vieux, Inverness Primary School; Samuel Mesic, Lecanto Primary School; Isaiah Betzoid, Forest Ridge Elementary School; Jeremy Wright, Floral City Elementary School; Cody Floyd, Hernando Elementary School; Paige Halkett, Citrus Springs Elementary School (Paige was unable to attend the luncheon); James Beasley, Homosassa Elementary School; David Wilson, Pleasant Grove Elementary School; and Nicholas McClure, Rock Crusher Elementary.
The middle and high school students were: Andrew Von Dem Hagen, Citrus Springs Middle School; Ashley Nash, Crystal River Middle School; Andrew Dupree, Inverness Middle School; Duane Sanders, Lecanto Middle School; Jeffrey Cook, CREST School; Abristo Laree Daniel, West Coast Christian School;Nicole Joyce, Pope John Paul II Catholic School; Christina Crane, Eckerd Wilderness Education System (Camp E-Nini-Hassee);Mark Golden, Key Training Center;Tyler Nadeau, Citrus High School; Naomi Sauls, Crystal River High School; Anthony Ferrara, Lecanto High School; and Desiree Cook, Withlacoochee Technical Institute.
