Citrus County math field day results

HOMOSASSA SPRINGS -- On Friday, dozens of Citrus County high school students competed in Math Field Day at the West Citrus Elks Lodge. Middle and elementary schools participated in Math Field Day on Saturday at Crystal River High School. Trophies were presented to the winning schools -- Citrus High School, Crystal River and Citrus Springs middle schools, which tied in the middle school division, and Floral City Elementary School -- at Tuesday's School Board meeting.

Math Field Day was sponsored by the Citrus County School District and Bank of America, which provided pencils, T-shirts for the winning teams, and money for math manipulatives for the top scoring school in each division. West Citrus Elks provided their lodge, coffee and doughnuts for the teachers and hot dogs for the students.

The following is a listing of Math Field Day results.

High school division

Algebra 1B: First place: Lecanto High School -- Bruce Thomashunis, Stephanie Zimbro, Kristen Harvey, Jeremy Parrish. Second place: Lecanto High School -- Sunnie Carpenter, Mathew Bussinger, Alicya Kind, Brian Kolowski. Third place: Crystal River High School -- Brian Dumal, Jason Fruh, Aaron Hughes, James Dill. Honorable Mention: Lecanto High School -- Tiffany Toy, Jennifer Hulse, Phil Reed, Ryan Downs.

Algebra 1: First place: Lecanto High School -- Ashley Bolt, Ashley Langley, Kenneth Parks. Second place: Crystal River High School -- Matt Mullins, Casey Anderson, Chris Stofcheck, Cory Nayfield. Third place: Citrus High School -- Scott Bauer, Bret Feldman, Garrett Neal, Sabrina Smith.
