A historic performanceNearly forgotten for almost a century, the operetta Alice and the Eight Princesses will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. May 23 at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Last performed in 1905, it will be presented in the style of a radio broadcast circa 1940, combining upbeat music by Victor Herbert, libretto by Glen MacDonough and a gag-filled script. Performing the operetta will be a cast of 20 from the Century Opera Company, which evolved from the Tarpon Operetta Company founded 13 years ago, and casting students from local elementary schools. Both children and adults will perform Alice and the Eight Princesses. Tickets cost $8 for center members, and $6 for students. For information, call (727) 942-5605.
