Neighborhood watchBy TIM GRANT AND SUSAN THURSTON © St. Petersburg Times, published May 11, 2001 Residents' input sought in redrawing district linesCARROLLWOOD -- Carrollwood residents this week got their first look at several plans to redraw Hillsborough's four County Commission districts. Most of the proposals would keep Carrollwood in District 2 and move the University of South Florida community to District 3, a large minority district. About 20 residents attended the meeting Tuesday at the Jimmie Keel Library. It was one of 13 community forums that will be held on this issue throughout the county. Residents were asked for their input on the proposals and were invited to make suggestions on where the district lines should be drawn. County commissioners will vote on the plan before it's adopted. Another redistricting workshop is scheduled for May 15 at the Museum of Science and Industry auditorium at 6 p.m. Wingate Inn manager wins top company awardManuel Aguiar, assistant general manager of the Wingate Inn in New Tampa, has received the hotel chain's Guest Service Ambassador award for his commitment to serving guests. Aguiar was among 2,500 employees from 100 hotels across the country who competed for the award. He was honored at the Wingate Inn's international conference April 21 in St. Augustine. David Larson, manager partner of the Wingate Inn at Interstate 75 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard said nominating Aguiar was easy. He submitted an inch-thick stack of comment cards and letters from guests that praised Aguiar for making their stay more comfortable and enjoyable. - Compiled by Times staff writers Tim Grant and Susan Thurston.
